Landscaping and Pet Safety

We actually had a winter in Texas! It’s hard to believe, but it’s true, and now that the weather has warmed up we are all looking to get in our yards and repair the damage and replace some of the plants that didn’t make it after the freeze. Many homeowners will take this opportunity to change the landscaping in their yard. Perhaps you would like to add some color; maybe you’re looking to go a completely different direction with your landscaping plan. For some of us, just having a plan would be a new direction!

National Flood Insurance Program is Back for Now

Congress took a step in the right direction last week and acted on the bill that extends the National Flood Insurance Program.  Buyers and sellers throughout the nation, many right here in Houston and Katy, were left in limbo when the program was allowed to lapse prior to Congress leaving over Easter.

Saving Money Has Become Trendy

I'm going to make it official...the recovery is officially here.  While times may still be tight, the worst appears to be behind us and all indicators point to cautious growth through 2011.  This latest recession was markedly different from those of the past.  There were no protected positions in corporate America; all were affected by the shake up in the market.

Texas Trade Up Appliance Rebate Program

Is your dishwasher on its last leg? Are you just keeping your fingers crossed hoping that your old refrigerator will make it through one more summer? Well, there is good news for those Texas residents who are in the market for a new appliance. Texas is tapping into $23.3 million of the nearly $300 million in federal stimulus funding to offer a rebate program this spring to help residents replace older, inefficient models with newer, more energy efficient models.

Congress Takes a Break Without Extending the National Flood Insurance Program

Congress elected to take a break before passing critical legislation that may have a huge affect on housing, particularly those of us who live in Harris County. It is no big secret that flooding is a sensitive issue in Harris County. Folks who live in Houston know that you don’t have to live in a flood zone in order to experience a flood.

Information vs. Misinformation About The Real Estate Market

Where you get your information can be just as important as the information you are getting.  How can you be sure that the information you are getting is correct?  Unfortunately, mainstream media seems to adhere to a hard fast rule...misery sells.  When it comes to the real estate market, doom and gloom appear to be on the menu night after night regardless of the facts.  And while Katy Texas saw a slow down in the market, we didn't even come close to the difficulty our friends accross the nation endured.

Service and Real Estate

There is change in the air. Katy REALTORS® haven’t had it as tough as our friends in other parts of the nation, but it hasn’t been a walk in the park. REALTORS® throughout Houston have been forced to take a long hard look at their businesses. Some have had to move on to other industries while others have taken on part time jobs. Still others have taken on full time employment and continue to practice part time, waiting for the market to take a turn for the better.

Relax The Back Makes Life Better

Let’s face it, these are trying times. If you watch the news (which I can’t say I would suggest) then you are bombarded with doom and gloom. A sluggish economy, a record deficit, and high unemployment are all mentioned thousands of times a day. If that doesn’t give you enough to worry about then allow me to remind you that tax season is in full swing. It’s enough to stress you out to the point that your shoulders begin to ache, your head begins to throb, and sleepless nights can become the norm.

Find An Extra 15K This Year

Have you ever checked your pockets and found an extra dollar or two?  What about finding that twenty dollar bill you hid from yourself months ago (don't tell me I'm the only one that does that).  Maybe it isn't the same as winning the lottery, but it's still pretty exciting to find money when you didn't expect it.

Best Burgers in Katy!

If you’ve lived in or around Katy, or visited for any length of time, then you know we have some amazing restaurants to enjoy. The area is rich with long time, locally owned establishments that offer great food at reasonable prices. I’m putting the locals on notice. There is an invasion happening right under your noses. And from the looks of things, this group is going to be here for a long, long time.
