Keeping Your Home Safe

Jackie and I have been REALTORS® for many years now, and we pride ourselves in our service before, during, and after the sale. Part of that service after the sale includes educating you on the potential hazards lurking in your home.

We don’t think of a home as dangerous

A home can represent many things to people. It can be a representation of our independence; a physical manifestation of our ability to provide for ourselves and our family. It can provide a sense of security. Our homes are often built in neighborhoods giving us a sense of community. When we think of a home we are bombarded by images of friendly gatherings during the holidays and peaceful evenings curled up with a good book. Injuries and trips to the emergency room are not the thoughts that come to mind.

Hazards lurk throughout our homes

It is unsettling to think that friends or family members could be injured in our homes. These injuries can stem from physical attributes of the home, such as a fall down the stairs or a slip in the tub, or from activities associated with our day to day living and maintenance of our homes, such as coming in contact with caustic or poisonous solutions.
