Repairing Your Credit

We've all seen the ads with the pie in the sky claims.  "We can remove bankrupties" or "late pays and non payments will disappear".  The reality of the situation is that this is just not true.  Repairing your credit can be done, however the same rules that apply to all of us apply to these companies as well.

Rates Are on the Rise...What Should I Do?

If you are in the market for a new home, or if you are considering making the leap this year, then you certainly have taken notice that rates have risen over the past three weeks.  The "experts" are split down the middle on their predictions for the future.  Some cite the recovery of our economy and fear over rising inflation as reasons for a rise in the rates.  Others believe that a sluggish holiday for the retail sector coupled with high unemployment rates will cause a dip in rates.

Houston Real Estate Market Remains Strong

The numbers are out, and they support the overwhelming feeling on the street that our local market remains strong compared to the rest of the nation.  While the previous year has been challenging, from fears and fallout about the economic crisis to hurricane Ike in September of 2008 which caused many of us to put our businesses on hold temporarily, the local real estate market has continued to rebound nicely.

Is It Time to Get Off of the Fence and Buy?

Interest rates on fixed year mortgages continue to remain low, and along with the extended and expanded tax credit, I can’t help but get on my soap box, scream from the mountain-top, ( you can insert your favorite saying here) and let everyone know that there are great opportunities out there for home ownership.

Home Buyer Tax Credit Changes

The government gave the real estate market a boost with the passing of the Home Buyer Tax Credit, which was to end on November 30th of this year.  I am happy to tell you that on Friday President Obama signed the Worker, Homeowner, and Business Assistance Act of 2009 into law.  Not only did we get an extension of the Home Buyer Tax Credit, the current legislation has been expanded to include a tax credit for current homeowners looking to purchase a new home.

Purchasing a new home...what are you waiting for?

The Great Debate

Do we buy a home now, or do we wait for prices to drop a little more? That is the great debate. While there are certainly circumstances that folks need to consider when deciding whether or not they want to jump into the market, I don’t think falling prices should be one of them. Everybody wants to get a good deal, and there is no crystal ball to look at when trying to figure out when housing has hit rock bottom. The only way to know you’ve found rock bottom is to study the numbers after the fact.
