Saving Money Has Become Trendy

I'm going to make it official...the recovery is officially here.  While times may still be tight, the worst appears to be behind us and all indicators point to cautious growth through 2011.  This latest recession was markedly different from those of the past.  There were no protected positions in corporate America; all were affected by the shake up in the market.

Qualifying for a home becomes tough

More realistic standards have been imposed by lenders, making it more difficult for those who have trudged through these trying times to qualify for a loan.  Although qualifying for a mortgage has become tougher, for those in a position to do so it is a better time than ever to make that purchase.  Prices remain low, our Katy market faired better than most, and rates have stayed at record lows.  Both home values and rates are beginning to rise, so those who have the ability to purchase should jump in to avoid buyer's remorse when rates and prices climb.

Americans have changed the way they think

Low rates and low home prices are not the only changes we've seen due to the latest recession.  Americans have changed their attitudes about saving money.  We lived in a world where we were constantly trying to keep up with the Joneses (sorry....I just couldn't resist) and were willing to go deep into debt to get what we wanted.  Since the correction (doesn't that sound better than recession?) Americans are putting away more money than they have in years.  Getting the latest and greatest toys has been replaced with building savings and paying down debt.

In the interest in helping out our readers I have included some tips to help you save money.  Make it a game and let's see how many strategies you can employ and how well they work for you.  feel free to email or call me with your feedback and/or any additional tips you may have.  Just click the picture below for the report and, as always, I hope this helps!
