Those of you who know me know I’m trying to watch my weight. Those who have known me for a while know that I’ve managed to drop a few pounds…I like watching the weight go down instead of up! Now the holiday season is knocking at the door, and with the holidays come lots of treats and goodies that are not necessarily on the diet. If you are trying to lose weight, or are just dreading the thought of putting on the pounds, don’t despair. There are some things you can do to help prevent them from stacking up.

If you’re looking for something to do in Katy on Saturday, October 30, 2010 then you might want to check out the Katy heritage Festival. The festival will be held at Katy City Park, located at the corner of Ave. D and Franz, from 10:00am – 4:00pm. There will be plenty of food and fun to go around and best of all….its FREE!
September brought more mixed signals, with home sales declining and inventory rising. One would think that this would indicate that values would also be declining; however that was not the case. The average sales price for single family homes rose to $215,250, a 5% increase over September 2009.
Much of the decline in sales volume can be attributed to the end of the home buyer tax credit. Many buyers that would have normally purchased later in the year made their purchases early in order to qualify for the credit, leaving fewer active buyers in later quarters of the year.
In previous posts (we've got links at the bottom for you), we offered a couple of suggestions that would help you beat the competition when buying a home. We discussed earnest money, as well as eliminating contingencies. In most instances these strategies will work, but what if they don’t fit your needs?

As temperatures fall, we are reminded that the holiday season is upon us. For many, this means lots of parties with friends and family. It’s a good idea now, while you are planning your guest lists, to think about some of those unwanted guests. No, I don’t mean your crazy cousin (You can fill in the blank here. You know we all have ‘em), I’m talking about the bugs and vermin will be seeking shelter from the cold.
There certainly isn’t a shortage of restaurants in the Houston/Katy area, and everyone has their favorites. One of the spots Jackie and I frequent on a regular basis is Victor’s Casa Garcia Mexican Restaurant. Located on Fry Road in Katy (score one for the North side!), the folks at Victor’s know how to take care of their guests.

Are you having trouble selling your home? Has it been sitting on the market for days and days with little or no activity? Or are you considering putting your home on the market, but are terrified of all the negative press that’s out there right now? There are many reasons why a home will sit on the market for an extended period of time. Some of them we can control, and some of them we cannot.

The Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has sent a demand letter to 30 banks asking that these institutions immediately “suspend all foreclosures, all sales of properties previously foreclosed upon, and all evictions of persons residing in previously foreclosed upon properties” until these institutions have reviewed files and taken appropriate steps to rectify possible past errors in documentation. This is in response to certain employees engaging in “robosigning” of documents.
