The Jones Team Blog
I just wanted to give everyone an early heads up. Usually around the end of February or the beginning of March, or the first warm spell of the year people may start seeing termite swarmers flying around. Typically people will see them flying around trees or in flower beds. If this is the case don't be alarmed. This is normal for early spring weather. The time to get alarmed is when you see them flying or crawling inside your house
In a vote held on Monday evening, the Katy ISD Board of Trustees approved a plan to allow families impacted by the attendance boundry modification a one-time Volunteer Enrollment Option (VEO). Monday will be a big day for the residents of Katy, particularly for those Katy households zoned to Cinco Ranch, Seven Lakes, and Taylor high schools. The Katy independent School District school board will be meeting on Monday, February 22, 2010 to vote on a high school rezoning plan for the 2010-2011 school year. The rezoning will redistribute students among the three mentioned high schools, and is an effort to relieve overcrowding.

Shopping for a new home is an exciting time. Sorting through the huge number of homes on the market can feel a lot like dating, and when you find that perfect one that's when the stress can set in. By now we’ve all heard about the Homebuyer Tax Credit. We may not know all the ends and outs about it (our friends and family members have gotten the scoop), but we know there is an opportunity to save some money for the right people. But were you aware that there are other programs out there that can save you even more money when purchasing a home.
Let’s face it, these are trying times. If you watch the news (which I can’t say I would suggest) then you are bombarded with doom and gloom. A sluggish economy, a record deficit, and high unemployment are all mentioned thousands of times a day. If that doesn’t give you enough to worry about then allow me to remind you that tax season is in full swing. It’s enough to stress you out to the point that your shoulders begin to ache, your head begins to throb, and sleepless nights can become the norm.
Have you ever checked your pockets and found an extra dollar or two? What about finding that twenty dollar bill you hid from yourself months ago (don't tell me I'm the only one that does that). In an effort to help potential homeowners, Fannie Mae announced late last week that people purchasing a Fannie Mae-owned HomePath® property could receive up to 3.5% of the final sales price. This contribution could be used for closing cost assistance or to purchase appliances. This offer applies to properties listed on HomePath.com and applies only to owner-occupants, not investors who plan to use the property for income generation.
